We have a group that wants to see some sights before a river cruise in early December 2026. In the guide book most of the trains do not seem to run in the mountains, does anyone have advice?

I'm not sure what guidebook you mean, but at that time of year, a lot of the mountain lifts can be closed for maintenance. I went directly to the Jungfrau and Shilthorn websites to get accurate information on when those lifts would run. But the BOB also was having maintenance at that time, so look at the SBB website as well.

Late November/ Early December is the worst time to visit the mountains. The summer season is over so many hotels and restaurants are closed, cable cars down for maintenance etc... (eg. here in Wengen there is not a single pub open at that time.). Winter season doesn't start till the second weekend of December or so.
