I have a late night arrival coming into Zurich on June 9th. My flight is suppose to land at 10:15. Typically I take the train to Lucern and get my hotel there but with this late night arrival, but the time i get thru passport control and get my luggage it could be close to 11:30 at night. Has anyone been in this situation? Any good/cheap hotels near the airport easy to get to late at night?

I wouldn't call it "cheap", it is definitely up-market.
All other hotels require a connecting shuttle bus or taxi.

There's nothing wrong with that solution. I recall that the hotel was expensive (like the rest of Switzerland) and not otherwise special. You could take either a tram or a train to downtown Zurich if you prefer to wake up there in the morning. I remember the tram required going outside to board. I think the rail station does not require that. You have to check the frequency of service at that hour.

If you plan on going to Luzern first thing the next morning, pick a hotel at or near (shuttle service) the airport.
If you plan on staying in Zürich the better part of the day after arrival before heading somewhere else, pick a hotel near the central station.
