Late Arrival to Geneva Airport - Purchasing Rail Passes and Rental Car

Hello,

Due to an airline schedule change, we're arriving into GVA at 10:30pm and staying for two nights.

  1. Does anyone know if I can purchase rail passes at that hour?

  2. We might also be renting a car for those 2 days due to the late hour and due to our family size of 5 people. Are the car rental desks open that late?

  3. If we don't rent a car, we'll be taking the train to Morges. Do local buses run at midnight? If not, we'll have to take a taxi or two. We are a family of 5 and looking at Uber, there are no Ubers there that can take 5 passengers. Trying to figure out the best combination of price and convenience.

Any advice and suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Looks like the ticket office closes at 20:15, and 21:00 at Cornavin station. So you would need to buy in advance on-line.

As far as trains and buses to Morges at that hour, there are direct trains at 23:12 and 23:32, a bus at 00:27 with a connection in Nyon, and a train at 01:43 with a connection at Geneva Cornavin, but a 2 1/2 hour change time. Schedules for your particular date at www.sbb.ch/en.

If it were ME, I'd be hesitant to go all the way to Morges (about an hour away) at that time, and while you are jet-lagged. I'd get a room in Geneva and go there the next day.
In any case, when you leave the baggage area at Geneva airport, every person can get an 80 min FREE transit slip for bus or train in Geneva. It is on your right just before exiting that baggage area.

As you exit the airport and go outside, look to your left and there is a bus stop, and the #10 bus might be there (about 15 min ride to the main train station and center of town, Gar Cornavin) or look further left and there are stairs to an underground mall where the train is (10 min to Gare Cornavin). These go past midnight and you can check the times here:
