Am considering going to Switzerland in the spring shoulder season this year. However, I'm wondering what the views from the scenic trains (esp. the Golden Pass Express and the Bernina Express) are generally like during the last 10 days of April? Are even the "lowlands" around Lake Thun etc still covered with snow? What about the area getting up toward Chateau d'Or etc before the descent to Montreux?
I know that many lifts likely will not yet be open (such as the one to the Schilthorn), but I'm not too concerned about that.
Just curious if, in an average weather late-April, will we be looking mostly at a snow-covered landscape, even in the lower lying areas?
(And I know-- there's no such thing as predictable or 'average' weather anymore, but still---
Any information would be welcomed from those who have been in Switzerland in late April/ early May.
Thanks in advance!
