Are these working alright? Have had some folks that say the authorities want the originals when you travel…..though it is difficult to tell that the laminated copies are not original…….does this even matter? Thank you to those traveling now that can answer this!
Jane,
I did not laminate my CDC Card, a disclosure up front. I just returned from Venice and presented my original CDC Card and passport at all museums and indoors venues. The kind of vaccine and the two dates were noted carefully by the person at the door. I have a plastic holder for my Yellow Vaccine card approved by WHO which I keep with my passport; everything is in my neck wallet.
I decided not to laminate my card because more shots may be required down the road and I want them all to be on my record.
But, I don’t see a problem with a laminated card if you have already done that. I don’t think it will be difficult for anyone to determine the card is valid. I didn’t notice anyone with a laminated card when I was on my trip. I’m sure there are people who have them.
I heard recommended quite a few times to NOT laminate the CDC card, including here and on TV. I purchased the plastic sleeved that the card can be inserted into on Amazon

+1 on this. I got a third shot a week and a half ago (chemo) and it was added to the bottom of the card. Anyone planning on getting the proposed booster shot should NOT laminate until after doing that.
I wouldn’t stress out to much, but if your worried just go to your Dr office and have them fill out another one that’s isn’t laminated.
And after you get the new one, put it in a clear plastic envelope which are sold on Amazon.
We laminated our cards before this issue was brought up amywhere. We have not had any problems using them in Germany.
All the Germans have cared about is what kind of vaccine it was.
No need to buy anything, just put it in a zip-loc snack size bag.
Jane, we made copies and laminated the copies and keep original in money belt. We showed original at both airports and have otherwise been using copies with no problems. Dont need them yet for Switzerland but when we were in france laminated copies were fine. The only thing they look for is 2 shots.
I was worried about all the paperwork before I got here but there really was no need. Everything is so easy. We're even using copies of our passports with the travel pass and it's fine. Today no one even asked for the passport.
Thanks Carrie!
No law saying the boosters can’t be on a different CDC card. I would worry about it.
I would say it depends on your situation whether you buy plastic sleeves for your CDC card. If you are having to show it multiple times a day, I would want it in a sleeve for protection and ease of carrying it. Most of them also have a way to attach to a lanyard. I was able to purchase 10 sleeves for about $4 on Amazon. The card doesn't really fit well into a wallet. My husband puts it in his wallet and part of the card is exposed, the sleeve keeps it from bending and protects it a bit more.
