We hope to do a boat tour on Lake Luzern —tomorrow. It may be that our only option is the 1 hour out and back. Is it worth it? Is my searching correct that all your options are run through the same company?

Yes it's worth it if the weather is nice. We just walked on the lake front to the left of the river and saw multiple boats offering tours. Maybe your hotel will have a recommendation or can book for you.

You see many ships because the lake is huge and has many arms, and ships go on many routes around the lake. All operated by the same company on the Vierwaldstättersee (the local German name for Lake Lucerne, the four forested cantons lake translated) and the company is Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees (SGV) or Lake Lucerne Navigation Company whose official website is https://webshop.lakelucerne.ch/en/pages/cruise-trips Plenty more to see scrolling around the website.
