Has anyone taken a boat tour on Lake Lucerne - and if so, would you recommend it? My husband and I are considering a private boat or joining a cruise and would appreciate any input you can provide! Thanks!
We've done it twice, once in May and once in September. We just walked around the dock area, to the left of the river mouth, and picked one of the many boats offering tours. Or you could take the ferry on its long trip around the lake. Yes it's a great way to see the mountains, but its especially nice if the weather is sunny.
We had the Swiss Travel Pass which includes a trip to the top of Mt. Rigi. This involves taking a boat across the lake to a cog wheel train (s) up to the summit. The boat piece was lovely.
Yep, we've just taken the ferry, usually all around the lake. Take several hours, long trip, very scenic. Especially nice when you get away from the Lucerne suburbs. You can stop at Vitznau, take the cog railway up to Mount Rigi, and back down. Then take the next boat back. In midsummer it might be pretty crowded, others would know better about that.
