I will be in Montreux from early afternoon (and overnight) on Sunday September 11th and I’d I like to take a cruise on one of the historic paddle steamers. I’ve had a little difficulty using the the CGN website but it looks like there is a two-hour cruise on the Italie that leaves Montreux at 2:20pm and sails by Chillon Castle then continues to Villeneuve, Le Bouveret, and St Gingolph before sailing to Vevey past the vineyards and back to Montreux. Would this be a good choice? Or should I consider taking a train somewhere (Lausanne?) and sailing one way back to Montreux? I don’t need to get off at any point, I’m most interested in the cruise itself. I will be taking a guided tour of Chillon Castle on the morning of the 12th. And, should I book online in advance or are tickets generally available (it’s a Sunday afternoon)?
