We're in Lauterbrunnen today and unfortunately the Mannlichen to KS panorama trail is still closed. Any opinions on the KS to Wengernalp hike? We are looking for an easy mostly downhill hike from the Wengen side, since we're done with the hikes in the Murren area.
Yes, that's a nice 30 min hike somewhat downhill. There's a train station at Wengernalp where you can get the next train.
While you are at KS, before you take the above trail, you might see how far you can get up the KS to Mann. trail (goes uphill away from the mountains). There are great views from many spots on that trail. I suspect the snow closing the trail is closest to Mannlichen.
Thanks, Shoe! We'll definitely check out going a little uphill. When we get up to Wengen this morning, I'll check with the tourist office re latest status before taking the train to KS or gondola to Mannlichen.
Just returned to SF Bay Area after our trip. We did walk up to Grinderwaldblick (it's a restaurant with a viewing balcony) from Kleine Scheidegg, and didn't feel like we missed anything due to Panorama trail being closed on June 14, although it opened last weekend. We also hiked down to Wengernalp.
Without question, this was the highlight of our "snapshot tour" to Italy, Greece, the Bernese Oberland, and Paris. If there's one place I would love to visit again in my lifetime, it would be the Bernese Oberland!
Heaven on Earth!
