Just sharing today’s experience departing Geneva airport

Getting through security was easy. Only a couple of people ahead of us. You do need to take out liquids and electronics. But passport control is separate and is after the available shopping. And it is available only with a human at least if you have other than Swiss or EU passport. No automated version. Today a Wednesday it took us nearly an hour in line at 9 am there to get through. And the line behind us grew only longer. We made our flight to LHR only because they held the gate past closing time.

I really appreciate your post. So sorry it was so long. I'm going to be traveling with someone elderly. An hour standing may be hard.

We were talking about that in line, what would someone do who couldn’t stand in line for an hour plus. I would look into wheelchair assistance available there.

It’s just a horrible situation. I read an article today that said that many of the countries are begging the EU to let them put EES system on hold until after the summer is over because there are so many problems. I don’t know if the EU will or not, but it seems like somebody should do something.

I’m flying out next week to Iceland and then Sweden, but I’m lucky in that I have a seven-night layover in Iceland. So although it will be a pain to have to stand in line to go through passport control, at least I don’t have to worry about catching another flight.
