That does not keep people from trying however. With a very expensive bill for these tourists as a result:
Cars should be prohibited south of Wilderswil, period.
I can't help but ask what the nationality of the tourons is. I can't pick that out of the article.
The article says they were following the Navi directions with “blind trust”. And apparently no common sense.
oops.. oh dear
And they had to bring in the Rotex KMax to get it out. That is going to be one hell of a bill...
The Air Glacier helis can lift 600kg, Rotex can lift 2200kg. If the car would have been heavier they would have had to cut it up.
What also happens every year is people getting stuck in the pedestrian underpass at Interlaken Ost and West Train station. And worst of all: People getting stuck on a railway crossing, and just staying put, not realizing the danger they are in,
That's one of the funniest things that I have seen, except of course it is not really funny.
Why on earth do people insist on driving in Switzerland? I simply can't think why you would bother with such a great train system.
A lot of those tourists come from places that have no public transit, or where someone from the middle class wouldn't even dream of taking public transit. It just never crosses their mind not to rent a car when here.

Too true! Also, this is illustrative of people who can’t be bothered to research a destination, assuming things will work as they do “at home.”
