Jungfraujoch Train Tickets

Hi,

It seems like there are two paths to go the top via Lauterbrunnen and via Grindelwald. If we want to take one route up and another one down what are are options?

Can we just buy return train tickets between Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch? Plan would be -
1) Go up - Use Swiss travel pass from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg
2) Kleine Scheidegg to an fro Jungfraujoch
3) Go down - Use Swiss travel pass from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald to Interlaken

Thanks

Swiss Travel Pass is only valid till Wengen/ Grindelwald. I personally thing that the best way to do this trip is out via Grindelwald and back via Wengen/Lauterbrunnen. So you would need a train ticket Grindelwald-Terminal - Jungfraujoch - Wengen. The rest is covered by your Swiss Travel Pass.
The STP gives you 50% on some parts, and 25% on the last part, so you will have to buy this ticket at a manned ticket office. Explain them what you want to do and they will get you the right ticket.

Thanks.

Since we are visiting in July I must buy Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch return ticket online to reserve a spot in high traffic time.

Then on the day of the visit, go to Grindewald and buy rest of the ticket?

Thanks

A ticket does not reserve you a spot. A ticket just allows you to be present in vehicles on the line.

To avoid having to queue at Kleine Scheidegg you can reserve a slot on the Kleine Scheidegg - Jungfraujoch section. You cannot reserve for the other sections. I would however not do that to early. It is perfectly fine to do that the evening before. Where are you staying?

Quickest way is to use the new Eigergletscher Cable Lift from Grindelwald Terminal to Eigerletscher station which is above Kleine Scheidegg. So in the morning, buy your add-on tickets and reservations for the Jungfraujoch train before departing. Sounds like you are going from Interlaken.

As Sam said, do use the Eigergletscher Cable Lift. Fabulous trip, faster than the train option to or from Grindelwald.

These reservations are a good idea, but they are not really reservations as you would expect for trains, but more "jump the queue" tickets. It is a good idea to get them the day before or so, to avoid the big tour groups, of which there are lots expected this year.

But there is no need to do this weeks in advance. Do not get your reservation (and tickets) until you know what the weather will bel. I always pity those on those "if its Thursday this must be the Jungfraujoch" type of tours, where they must go up, no matter what the weather is, and then spend half a day up there walking in the fog...

\Weather is very fickle here, and very local. It is quite possible that the Jungfraujoch will be in a snowstorm where at the same time the Schilthorn enjoys clear views. So look at a good weather forecast first.

So… I just made if go Wengen today and trying to figure out how to buy tickets to Jungfraujoch for tomorrow possibly.
We have STP. From Wengen, what tickets do I need to make it up to Top of Europe? I am so confused.
Is Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg covered by STP?
If so do I just need tickets from Elgergletscher to Jungfraujoch? (Both ways) And is this the portion that can be reserved for extra CHF 10?
Thank you for your help in advance

Grace, nothing is fully covered above Wengen with the STP. Just go to the ticket counter at the wengen train station. Show them your STP and tell them where you want to go. They will give you the appropriate ticket.
