Hello,
Does the Switzerland tour allow time to visit JUNGFRAUJOCH? We really wanted to spend the day visiting the Sphinx Observatory, the ice palace, and all the other fun things to do up at the top of Europe.
Hello,
Does the Switzerland tour allow time to visit JUNGFRAUJOCH? We really wanted to spend the day visiting the Sphinx Observatory, the ice palace, and all the other fun things to do up at the top of Europe.
The RS best of Switzerland tour? I took it last year.
You get to Murren late afternoon early evening in day 7. Day 8 is totally free to do whatever you want. Our guide did organize a trip up to the Schilthorn. Since we were staying in a hotel owned by the same organization, we were offered the opportunity to have breakfast up top instead of the hotel. Worked out great and only one person opted out as they were feeling ill. Note since itβs optional you do have to pay for the lift ticket. Since there were so many of us our guide dot us the group price. He also organized a walk through Murren and down to Gimmelwald.
Jungfrau is doable, but as I understand it, it takes pretty much a full day. Also a little more diffcult to get to as its on the other side of the valley from Murren.
Assuming you are referring to the Best of Switzerland in 12 Days tour, Day 8 is a free day while in Muerren. That is plenty of time, but check the weather and don't waste any money if it is not clear. Even then, it can cloud up quickly late morning.
We did this trip on the GAS tour. It did take pretty much the entire day and we did hike a section of the trip. We started fairly early. It was a fun trip and pretty neat to take the train through rock. Enjoy!
We went to Jungfrau two months ago. 1.5 or 2 hours at the top will allow you plenty of time to see everything. We left Lauterbrunnen about 9:30 and were back down to Kleine Scheidegg by 1:00. We stopped there for lunch at Eiger Nord where we had a beautiful view of the three peaks from the deck of the restaurant. (Much nicer place for lunch than up at the summit.) After returning to Lauterbrunnen we had plenty of time for a walk to Stubbach Falls. Or you could instead take the post bus the few miles to Tummelbach Falls that afternoon.
Great tour. As others mentioned you can do the Jungfrau on your free day in Murren. Check the weather and purchase your tickets at the train station the night before. Fun trip, not difficult at all.
As the others have mentioned, a trip to the Jungfraujoch should easily be possible on your free day. Also as mentioned, be sure to check the weather forecast at the top prior to departing from Lauterbrunnen (or where ever your hotel is located).
One other point to mention regarding the Jungfraujoch is that it's located at an elevation of almost 12,000 feet (3650 metres). If you're affected by altitude issues, that could be a problem. You'll probably find that you're moving more slowly there, and stairs are more of an effort.
