We are going to be in Lucerne with a cruise. In my research, I found mention of medieval village where there was a building with jesters and other creatures protein trading from the building. I know that the trip is booked, I’ve gone back, looking for where that was and I can’t find it. I know it exists because I was so excited I ran into a different room where my husband was and commented to him about it. I just didn’t write it down. Any and all help appreciated. Not leaving til June.
Maureen,
Thanks for the suggestion but it was not the Cathedral. It was a small, playful medieval village that was vibrant. The protruding characters were life-size, jester-like and hung off the cornerstones of buildings. I do so much research to ensure that we see sites in addition to those that the cruise takes us. Oftentimes they have half- to full-day special excursions so if we don't stay longer, we won't see sites we're interested in.
I do have occasional lapses in memory or dream things up, but I was so excited that I unplugged my computer and took it into another room to show my husband. It's just very unlike me not to jot it down in my notes.
Googling around the only thing I could find was the Zytglogge clock tower in Bern's old town - which is a medieval center. It does have characters that 'protrude', including a jester.
I appreciate the efforts your team has made to help me find this little gem, but the clock tower is not it. These jester-like literally protrude from the edges of building(s) at street height throughout the town. I'm beginning to wonder if they're put out for a festival but those creatures are more freaky. The ones I'm looking for are playful. Not giving up and maybe we'll just come across them as an added surprise.
