Itinerary/travel advice - 14 days in Switzerland

Hello everyone, first time user here. I am trying to nail down destinations for purposes of booking hotels and I'm having some difficulty in determining travel times. I've heard google maps can be unreliable for travel in Switzerland. I think my wife and I have settled on the Engadin region, Murren (and surrounding villages), Lucerne and Zermatt as our primary destinations.

We are traveling in late June and using public transport. My thoughts were to train from Zurich to St. Moritz (3 days); from St. Moritz to Lucerne (2 days); from Lucerne to Murren (4 days); and then Murren to Zermatt (2 days) before eventually making our way to Geneva for our flight home.

Seems like I should expect travel times of about 5 hours from Zurich to St Moritz and from St. Moritz to Lucerne and about 3 hours from Lucerne to Murren and Murren to Zermatt.

Am I on the right track (pun intended)?

Any changes I can make with timing that might be more advantageous? I am very flexible other than landing in Zurich and leaving from Geneva. Any additional advice would be GREATLY appreciated as this will be our first time to Switzerland.

Thank you

sbb.ch is the official Swiss train site. Its travel times are very accurate in my experience.

Yes, www.sbb.ch/en not only has all the train schedules, but the bus and tram schedules built in. No guess work and incomplete info like Rome2Rio.
You might consider it like this, Zurich airport to Luzern (hourly direct trains). Rest up there for 2 nights, then train to St Moritz. Then the Glacier Express train to Zermatt. That is a whole day of travel, but with spectacular scenery along the way, and lunch and refreshments served at your table. Then to Muerren, then to Geneva on the Golden Pass route through Montreux.

Either SBB.ch ( Swiss train website) or Bahn.de ( German trainnwebsite) willmgive you Times accurate to the minute. Often there are differences depending on the exact route, time of day, and number of changes you have to make.

Rome2Rio is quick but it just gives averages and can be inaccurate.

Thank you so much everyone, i've bookmarked both sites and compared certain times to google maps. It was pretty close.

We had considered the Glacier Express but were put off by the 8 hour train ride. We'll look again and give it some more thought.

Any other comments, advice, etc. are very much welcome! :-)

Unless you have a specific reason to go to St. Moritz, I would add a day in Murren, a day in Lucerne (Go to Pilatus one day), and a day in Zermatt and skip St. Moritz. It is out of the way and overrated as a place to visit in the summer IMO.

That's interesting that you say that because the Engadin area was not on my original short list. I only added it after hearing such good things. And the Bernina Express to Tirano seemed like an interesting thing to do.
