Hello! SO and I are planning a Switzerland/Italy trip the first 3 weeks of September. I've been to Italy before but never Switzerland and have been combing through forums to get a better idea of how to plan the Switzerland portion but I must admit I'm pretty confused on where exactly to stay and go. Hence my post :)
So I'm thinking to do about 8 days in Switzerland (and 12 in Italy). We fly into Zurich on 4th afternoon. Based on Rick Steves' Switzerland page, I think we'll do Zurich, Lucerne, Bern, Bernese Oberland then onto Italy. Maybe Lugano but I'm thinking to do Lake Como in Italy so not sure if that would make sense/be enough time. Unfortunately I don't think we'd have time to go to the Geneva area. It's my understanding that Bernese is a whole region so I'm just a bit puzzled on where to really stay and how many days to devote to each city. I know it probably depends on what we're looking to do so to give you a background we enjoy the outdoors/hiking, unique architecture, good food, etc. We're a young couple so pretty much any adventure is appealing to us! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information. Thanks in advance!
