Itinerary help- Milan-Zermatt-Zurich-Paris

Traveling in June with a 10 and 12 year old, starting in Milan. Planning to take Bernina Express to Chur, overnight there, then continue to Zermatt via Glacier Express before spending 4 nights in Zermatt. Then train to Zurich, one overnight, before ending trip with 5 days in Paris. This path to Zermatt is LONG but we are prioritizing Bernina Express. Is this a mistake? :)

Any suggestions for improving this itinerary for efficiency/ease of travel with tweens? (We could skip Zurich entirely?)

First time in Switzerland for all and first time abroad for kids since they were toddlers if relevant.

Thanks so much for the help and advice!

Yes, You can get from Zermatt to Paris in one day by going through Basel, or possibly Lausanne. Either one has direct TGV's to Paris. The route through Basel takes 7 1/2 hours, like this: Zermatt to Visp to Basel to Paris. Depart at 8:06 and arrive in Paris at 3:40 pm, in time for check in at your hotel. Even gives you 1 hour in Basel for lunch.

If you want to go by the Bernina Express and Glacier Express, that is up to you. Get your seat reservations now, as they book up quickly and tour operators often suck up all the reservations. Otherwise, you could just get a train from Malpensa to Zermatt. There are other scenic train rides you could take in Switzerland on the way to Paris.

Zermatt - Visp - Laussanne - Paris is the fastest route, and is probably also going to be cheapest, as the Lausanne - Paris TGVs are not as popular as the Basel - Paris ones.
