Itinerary Help for June

Please give me your advise on our plans! It's my husband and I and our two kids ages 11 and 13. We are staying at an Air B&B. On day 4 we are traveling to Lake Como. Could we travel to Lake Como in the afternoon on day 3 instead or is that too tight for plans?

Take the gondola from Grindelwald to the top station at First.
·          Bachalpsee hike
·          First Cliff Walk
·          First Flyer
·          Trottibikes

I already answered your questions elsewhere, but I'll put it here as well as you haven't responded to everyone's suggestions there. A lot of my comments below are directed at the AI generated itinerary, not at you specifically, so I want to make clear that I am trying to help, but the AI is not helping you. It's giving you absurd suggestions that are impossible and/or make no sense. To point out just a few of the major issues….

Day 1 - Lines for the First Flyer, First Glider, Mountain Carts & Trotti bikes are typically 2-5 hours long for EACH activity, so your plan to do all 4 in 2 hours is not even close to possible. Maybe you’ll get to do 1 in that amount of time.

To do your plan of hiking to Bachalpsee + Cliff Walk + adventure activities is a full day and you should savor it, there is plenty to do.

You can’t drive to the Brandegg Bergrestaurant, nor to Pfingstegg - they are accessible by cable car/train

Day 2 - I’m confused, as it has told you to go up to Oeschinensee via the cable car and then later it’s telling you to retrace your steps and go back up there again for the hike. You don't start the hike from Kandersteg with young kids. The hike begins up at the lake and to do the full thing is a half day with above average physical fitness. And then somehow you’re teleporting to Blausee + Lauterbrunnen + waterfalls. And then go to Stechelberg for sunset, where you will have no sunset views because it’s in a deep valley? That’s nonsensical. Doing Oeschinensee from Lutschental is a full day trip, no time for anything else in that day if you’re going to do the mountain coasters, eat and hike.

Day 3 - You have way too many things on your list to cram into 2 days + driving to Lake Como.

To really help you, this AI plan should all be thrown out and start from scratch with actual plans customized to your family. It seems your family wants to do a mix of viewpoints, adventure activities & hiking, correct? I’m assuming this is during high summer season? You’re staying near Grindelwald, so you should focus on the areas around there with something like this to combine your desires in a realistic plan. It’s plenty packed….

Day 1 - Lutschental > Train to Grindelwald > walk or bus to Grindelwald First station > ride cable car up and hike to Bachalpsee (picnic lunch at the lake) > 1 adventure activity if you’re willing to wait in the lines > If you happen to have time left over, you can try for Gletscherschlucht Gindelwald > dinner in Grindelwald > train back to Lutschental

Day 2 - Lutschental > train to Zweilutchinen > train to Lauterbrunnen > walk the Lauterbrunnen Valley to Stechelberg (see waterfalls along the way) > ride the cable car up to Schilthorn > cable car to Birg Thrill Walk > cable car to Murren > funicular to Allmendhubel > Northface hike counterclockwise (stop at Suppenalp for lunch) > hike ends in Murren > walk down to Gimmelwald for wood fired pizza at the hostel > cable car to Stechelberg > bus to Lauterbrunnen > train to Zweilutchinen > train to Lutschental

Day 3 - Lutschental > train to Zweilutchinen > train to Lauterbrunnen > train to Wengen > cable car to Mannlichen > Lieselotte kids adventure trail down to Grindelwald > bus to Grosse Scheidegg and on to Rosenlaui Gorge > bus back to Grindelwald > if you still have time left over take the cable car up to Pfingstegg to do the mountain coaster > dinner in Grindelwald > train back to Lutschental

Make sure to get the Half Fare Card + free Family Card so that your kids travel for free and the adults get 50% off all these activities.

Thank you. The other thread seemed focused on my timing which is clearly not everyone’s jam and no one was actually helpful. And I didn’t not use AI, their suggestions were wilder than mine. We will have a rental car so prefer not to use the train. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
