I'm planning a trip in October visiting the area around Lake Geneva. We will fly in and out of Geneva. We enjoy museums and city sights but also love easy hiking in the mountains. This is our tentative plan:
Arrive in Geneva, transfer to Nyon, ferry to Yvoire. Stay Yvoire 2 nights-charming village stay
Transfer to Nyon (no ferry) then train to Lausanne. Stay Lausanne 2 nights- city sights
Train to Montreux stay 2 nights- visit surroundings Vevey?, Lavaux vineyards?
Train and cable car to Gruyères, overnight at Refuge de Plan Francey (store luggage at hotel?)
Return to previous hotel Montreux, 1 night
Train to Geneva, stay 2 or 3 nights
I know it's jumping around a bit, but the distances aren't great. I really hoped for a night in a mountain refuge (we did this years ago in Ebernalp). We hope to get in some fairly easy hikes and mountain views along with some city sight. We could rent a car if necessary. I would like to figure out how the transit cards hotels may give us would fit in with a Swiss Travel Pass for the Lake Geneva region.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
