Italy / Switzerland 15 day plan

Greetings!! Would love some feedback on my first draft ideas for a 15 day itinerary for Sept 2024! Have narrowed down to 4 areas to concentrate in. We have family driving us around Pisa area but otherwise plan to utilize the train system (we are not familiar with but we are giving it a go!) It occurs to me this trip could also be done opposite- leaving Lake Como and heading to BO to begin with, ending with Zermatt. Still looking for a dreamy place to stay in OB - currently considering Wengen. Would love Mürren, but nervous about all the construction I’m reading about. Thank you!!

1 overnight flight to arrive in Milan @ noon next day
3 nights Pisa area (with family)
2 nights Lake Como
3 nights Zermatt
4 nights Bernese Oberland (same location for 4 nights)
1 day of travel back to Milan (stay in Milan)
1 day fly home

If you would compromise by substituting Lago Maggiore (at Stresa) rather than Lake Como (location unknown), you would reduce travel time to Zermatt by a lot (2 1/2 hour vs 6 hours).

I also recommend Stresa. We spent 2 nights there in June and I fell in love with it. And I’ve been to Varenna on Lake Como.

Have you considered a multi-city flight? Fly into Milan and out of Zurich or Geneva. It would save you from backtracking to Milan.

Thank you, Sam. My family we are visiting has already been to that lake, which is why we decided on Lake Como. Current plan for Lake Como is to stay in Como (southern most part of the lake) and take day trips via boat to Bellagio, and potentially Varenno or Mennagio. We realize we have a long day of travel to get to Zermatt, which is why we are staying there 3 nights. But I do appreciate the recommendation and information on the traveling time. If
There is a more convenient town to stay than Como, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks again!

Travel4fum, we already have our flights in/out of Milan and are traveling on points, so it was a necessary inconvenience to save financially on this trip. I know there are 2 long days of travel because of it, but the scenery will be beautiful, so that’s a big plus. Thank you!

Como town is as good as any location. You can get to Zermatt in under 5 hours per current schedule with a mid-morning departure.

What I would do is swap the Berneses Oberland with Zermatt. So go to the BO first from Como, then Zermatt, then back to Milan. Will make the logistics a bit easier. You can travel Como - Luzern - Interlaken - BO, which is a rather nice routing.
