Will be in Switzerland in late May. It seems that Lugano is a little out of the way. Is it worth more than a day trip?
It is the rest of the itinerary details that would help me make this determination.
We'll be spending 4 days each in Lausanne; Lucern; Interlaken. We can add Lugano for a few days or skip it?
I would not deduct days from those three places--it's a pretty good balance! I would shift from Interlaken to somewhere in the mountains though.
Any suggestions in the mountains? We picked Interlaken because we wanted to be near a central train hub
I chose Murren, it really just depends on the things you want to see and do, but it's Switzerland--you should get the full impact of the peaks!
In defense of Interlaken, it was so nice to come back down to a warm, flat large town each day. We loved being near a major train station, diverse restaurants, multiple grocery stores, etc. We rented a wonderful AirBnB (the ground floor of a very nice lady's home) and were able to relax.
Stay in Lauterbrunnen it is in the valley of the mountains a short ride away from Interlaken. Lugano is not worth going all that way though.
@AbbyO
How long did it take you each day to leave Interlaken and get to Lauterbrunnen, Murren etc.?
What is the AirBNB link for the place you stayed?
