We are planning to revisit Gimmelwald after 24 years and show our daughter this lovely part of the world. We didn't think twice when we were younger about leaving our car at the Schilthorn parking lot, but now we are wondering if it is still safe to leave your vehicle there?

Yes, I can't think of a more safe place to leave a rental car. To bad you'll still be paying for the rental as it sits in parking lot. Love the Swiss public transport system, it's easily one of the best in the world.

I also parked there with no problem several years ago (when my car was on a long-term lease), and would still do it today. Like anywhere, you shouldn't leave any tempting valuables in view.

Very safe. I suspect that the only thing you need to worry about is a paraglider landing on your car.
