I currently am staying for 4 days at Brienz and have 4 more nights to book. Should I increase the number of days at Brienz? I do not like hopping from place to place, so was thinking 4 nights in Brienz and 4 in Zermatt, but can increase the number of days in Brienz.
Currently planning on - Thun, Lauterbrunnen, Grindlewald First. Any other suggestions?

Check the weather of each of these places. Let it decide for you. Do not go to Zermatt if the weather is bad.
This will be around September 10th - so hoping that the weather will be decent. And I need to make some sort of plan -
I would switch from Brienz to somewhere up in the mountains: Wengen or Murren would be my first choices. Or spend the extra 4 nights in one of these places. But let weather dictate what you do each day. If it’s rainy in the mountains, take the train to Lucerne for the day, for example. More time in one place gives you more flexibility.
They have stated their reasons for choosing Brienz in another thread, and it makes sense.
With 4 extra nights, I suggest adding one to Brienz and spend 3 nights in Zermatt. That gives you more chances to see the Matterhorn, and there is plenty to see and do there even if the mountain is hiding.
