Interlakken/Murren or St Moritz?

Coming into Zurich via overnight sleeper from Amsterdam. We have 3 nights to spend in the Alps. Rub is we need to get to Venice after via train. I know we can (fairly) easily/quickly get from St Moritz to Italy but was not sure about from Murren area. We love to run mountain areas and I think we would prefer This area but was not sure if it is as logical considering the transportation logistics. Any thoughts from those who have done? Thanks

Actually, you can get to Italy quickly from St Moritz, but not to Venice. I would think the connection from Interlaken would be easier. Change at Spiez to an EC train direct to Milan, then fast Freccia train to Venice. 6 hours. Muerren to Interlaken is a bit of dinking around, but it is always like that. I'd take Muerren any day over St Moritz. St Moritz to Venice the fastest way is 7 hours 38 minutes and involves a 1 hour 45 minute bus ride.

IMO, transportation from Mürren will be easier and quicker than from St. Moritz. From Interlaken Ost the quickest travel time to Venezia S. Lucia is about 6H:40M, with two changes (that's for a departure at 08:00).

Getting to Mürren is also very easy. Local Berner Oberland train to Lauterbrunnen (about 20 minutes), walk across the street to the Cable Car station, Cable Car to Grütschalp (about 15 minutes) and then the small mountain railway to Mürren (30 minutes or so). It sounds like a lot but it's actually very easy. When you arrive at the small station in Mürren, walk up the stairs to street level and then to your hotel.

When is this trip taking place?

Happy travels!

Thanks. We will be there mid June. The original, pre logistics check plan was to go from Amsterdam to Chamonix and run UTMB. After looking at the time travel required via trains (no flying this trip) to there and then getting to Venice for a cruise stopped that plan. So the hope was to find a location easy to get to from Amsterdam and to Venice after that we would enjoy, that had trails to run, cable cars etc to get up and down between runs, and an enjoyable nightlife (Like Chamonix) Any recommendation that fits that criteria over Murren or other?

I don't know that Muerren has ever been known for its night life. The Dolomites have lots of lifts and hiking. Rail access is not that good. Bolzano is 3 hours by train from Venice, and a 1 hour bus up to the Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi hiking trails. That is not the only spot, but certainly the most celebrated.
