Interlaken early June

My wife and I will be in Interlaken in early June for 2 nights and wanted recommendations on hotels. We would prefer to be close to the OST train station as we have an early morning train upon departure. Looking for something comfortable but does not have to be fancy. Need private bathroom and clean. Someone recommended the Linder Grand Beaux Rivage but it seems a little pricey at around 275 a night and we don't plan on spending much time in hotel. We are travelling from the US. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

rosy,

What time is your "early morning" train departure? It's also very easy to stay in Lauterbrunnen and still connect with early trains, as the trip to Interlaken Ost is only about 20 minutes. If most of your touring is going to be in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, it makes sense to stay there as that will minimize transportation costs and times.

A couple of hotels you could consider are the Hotel Oberland or the Hotel Silberhorn (there are others). If you want the absolute cheapest rooms, there's always the Valley Hostel. Switzerland is expensive regardless, so you may only be able to ameliorate the costs in a limited way.

I would definitely look at Lauterbrunnen if you plan on exploring that valley and hiking. For our next visit, I would stay in Murren or Lauterbrunnen, instead of Interlaken, where we stayed for three nights, early fall 2014. Sunny Days in Interlaken was a fabulous inn, I must add, with a great breakfast. Our next three nights were in Gimmelwald, absolutely picturesque but a little too small for us; Murren would have been a better choice. Both are good locations for hikes, however.
