Interlaken Dinner Suggestions?

Hi, my sister and I will be traveling to the Interlaken area in mid-October. Would love to get your advice on options for dinner. Do restaurants close "early"? Thought I had read that somewhere> Any suggestions would be welcome. Not looking for super fancy or extremely expensive, just good food and nice atmosphere..... Thanks so much! Karen

While most of the shops close around 6pm, the restaurants are open longer until 10pm or so. One of the best features of Interlaken is it's restaurant scene. You can get most any kind of cuisine from traditional Swiss to Thai to Mexican. In October a lot of the restaurants in the mountain towns shut down until the ski season starts up, but everything will be open in Interlaken.

Had a great meal at this place:

Ristorante Pizzeria Città Vecchia at Untere Gasse 5 in Unterseen (the "Old Town" area by the Interlaken West station). See

For novelty, Interlaken even has a Hooter's, on the main road between the train stations.

We enjoyed several good restaurants in Interlaken. The Hotel Interlaken Taverne Restaurant was very good. I liked their minnestrone soup and bread bar. We had a great lunch at PizPaz on Centralstrasse. It is open until 11:00 pm. Their grilled chicken with vegetables was excellent. Another favorite was dinner at Hapiwag on the outdoor terrace at the Movenpick Hotel Interlaken. The chicken and roast potatoes were delicious. We splurged on a Danemark - a fantastic ice cream sundae with chocolate sauce, almonds, and whipped cream. Des Alpes is a casual restaurant with good spaghetti bolognese. We sat outside in front and loved the view of the mountains and the parasailers landing in the meadow. There are many dining choices in Interlaken. Have a great time!
