Information about Bakery/Coffee shop for breakfast

Hi, I am booking the hotel in "hotel victoria lauberhorn wengen" for 4 days. I will stay with 2 adults and little kids.
My question is:
Should I buy the "Long stay with breakfast and 4 course dinner". They are charging more than CHF275. I am not sure any bakery/coffee shop is nearby this hotel. If bakery/coffee shop is available near this store then I will skip this and save the amount.
Is any bakery/coffee shop is available near this hotel?
Is any store/shop is available near this hotel for lunch/dinner?

There is a Coop, or grocery store, right down the street from your hotel. Not sure what is available besides groceries.

Even if the price turned out to be a good deal - don't lock yourself into a particular hotel's restaurant for every meal. Half the fun of the place is exploring the bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants which are dotted around the area.

Do you have the option of breakfast alone? It is generally included with the room in Swiss hotels. Stand-alone coffee shops are unusual in small towns like Wengen. And I cannot recall if there is a bakery there. I can picture one in Mürren, but not Wengen.

I've looked at staying in Wengen, but based on my research it seems a bit posh and expensive. CHF 275 seems a bit pricey and they're forcing you to have dinner at the hotel. You can probably get a better deal by changing locations and staying in Lauterbrunnen, Mürren or other location, as many hotels include breakfast with the cost of the room.

The Chocolate shop was also a bakery with sandwiches not but not a coffee shop. Google street maps show pastries. There are two grocery stores in Wengen that had sandwiches for a daily picnic. I would not want to getting locked into Dinner at a hotel. There were some places that had pizza if you wanted a cheap dinner.

Check if this property offers adding on the meals on a day by day basis after you arrive and what it would cost. If there is no "discount" for the half board at booking option, adding breakfast and/or dinners on a day by day basis would give you more flexibility.

If your normal breakfast is a light fare like a French "continental" roll and coffee you would likely be better off not taking the hotel breakfast. If your normal breakfast or holiday breakfast preference is a substantial meal, taking the hotel breakfast can be convenient.

To get a sense of outside food options, Google Maps and the like are useful tools. Locate the hotel and do a search for "restaurants near Wengen", "bakery near Wengen" etc. You may find that the optional eating out is having a meal at the next door hotel.

Normally I wouldn't want to be locked in to dinner at a hotel, especially in such an expensive area. However at some point it is a fun cultural experience to stay at an inclusive spa hotel like this and dine with the guests. You don't say what time of year you are going. This is very typical for a spa hotel in their high season. This sounds like a bargain in Switzerland for breakfast and a 4 course evening meal at hotel spa restaurant. I think you are saying that it adds about 68CHF per day to your room rate. They also say on their website that children under the age of 12 stay for free in the parent's room. I'd go for the experience or change hotels. BTW, I've included a link to the hotel's website below.

EDIT: I'm also thinking this rate is a bargain in Switzerland as someone who looked for an inexpensive meal in a Swiss town last summer while waiting to pick someone up at the Zurich airport. Their flight was delayed so we needed to eat something eventually. We spent > 50 CHF for a SHARED small pizza, little salad and a glass of wine.

Look Wengen is lovely.. I stayed there for two nights with my then 11 yr old child.

But its VERY expensive , even when we went to the grocery store to find food for lunch.. we were shocked at the high prices. I would consider the hotel deal myself.

In Montreux there's a small Coop next to the train station that's like a 7-11, I would walk there every morning and get pastries and tea for myself and coffee for the wife. I'm a great husband.
