Inexpensive B&B's, or hotels, in Spiez, Switzerland.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Europe for the fall of 2014. We will be spending 3 or 4 nights in Switzerland on our way from Italy to Paris. Friends of ours have advised us that Spiez is a very nice, quiet town that we would enjoy, being adjacent to Interlaken and the activities of Berner Oberland. We would like to find an 'inexpensive' place to stay in a quiet location in the area. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! John & Leslie

When you find one I want to know because I've looked several times and come up empty.

You do realize, right?, that Spiez is around the lake (Thunersee) from Interlaken, and that then it is a good 20 minute ride up to the Lauterbrunnen Valley town of Lauterbrunnen and then you start going up one side or the other of the valley walls by cable car or train?

What I'm trying to say is, Interlaken is by no means in the mountains, and Spiez is even further away than that.

You seem to be hunting for "adjacent to the activities" and it isn't. Spiez is a very nice lakeside town with good connections into Bern. If that's what you want, cool. Still, tell me when you find what you want.

I, personally, have found cheaper places up in the car free mountain village of Muerren than what I have paid in Interlaken, and I don't know of places (yet) in Spiez that are cheaper than Interlaken.
