If we buy the Berner Oberland Pass, should we get the Swiss Travel Pass in addition?

Our whole stay in Switzerland will be in the Bernese Oberland region (Lucerne and Murren). It seems to make sense to buy a BO pass, but I'm confused about whether we need the Swiss Travel Pass as well? I keep hearing about the Half Fare card, for instance.

Here is the proposed itinerary for 2 adults/2 kids (feedback/suggestion for activities welcome):

Day 1 Arrive at Zurich airport and take a taxi to Lucern, late night arrival, sleep in Lucern
Day 2 Spend the day in Lucern (boat tour, Mt Pilatus) sleep in Lucern
Day 3 Take early train from Lucern to Murren, explore the Lauterbrunnen valley (hikes?), sleep in Murren
Day 4 Explore Murren (hiking, Schilthorn, Piz Gloria) sleep in Murren
Day 5 Leave Murren toward Zurich via train, explore Zurich and then depart early evening from Zurich airport

Thanks for your help!

You do not need the Swiss Travel Pass to buy the BO pass, however with the Swiss Travel Pass or the Half Fare Card you do get a reduction. See the price list.

For your plan however the BO pass does not make much sense, as the Pilatus and Shilthorn are not included. (Luzern is not part of the Bernese Oberland)/ Best pass for you is probably the Half Fare Card, with the free family card so your kids (if under 16) go for free everywhere.
Also the easiest way to get to Luzern from ZRH is by train, even late at night. A taxi will cost a fortune.

What time is your expected arrival at Zurich airport that you need a taxi to Luzern? Last train to Luzern is about 11:30 PM.
