We are planning a trip to Italy concluding in Zurich for a return flight to Fl ( Sanford Orlando airport). Icelandair offers the best airfare . Does anyone have experience with this airline? Any other suggestions? We are planning to stay in Switzerland a few days prior to departure. Any suggestions for activities prior to departure?
Since it is the most economical one-way ticket home, I think you are already committed. Icelandair charges for meal service, alcohol, and headsets in economy class, and you can get a free stopover in Iceland if that is one of the places you always wanted to see.
You might want to spend the extra time in Switzerland in Luzern. There is hourly direct train service to Zurich airport and trip takes 1 hour, so it is almost as convenient as staying in Zurich with more touristic things to do than Zurich.
I enjoyed my flights with Iceland Air last year when I flew Frankfurt to Sacramento and back again. Packed some sandwiches and snacks, plus my earplugs for the movies and I was set. Efficient switch of planes in Iceland, which I was worried about beforehand, as there was only 40 min. between flights. People on the forum here and on the Trip Advisor Iceland forum, set my mind at ease. It was very easy and I would be happy to fly with them again.
Very pleased with the service provided by Icelandair. We have flown from Seattle to Iceland to Glasgow and return. We will do it again, and a lot of fun to spend a couple of days in Iceland.
Thanks for the helpful information. Certainly feel more confident with support from previous travelers. Will book our tickets.
We flew on Icelandair last year and were very happy. Service was really good, the seats were as comfortable as can be expected in economy and the flights were on time. We are flying them again this year to Paris. Their price was at least $200 less than other carriers.
As others have said, just pack your own food and headphones and you're good to go!
