I am staying in Lauterbrunnen for two days at the end of May before joining the 12 days of Switzerland tour. I am going to be paragliding, then would like to go to the canyon walk in Aare Gorge later that day but cannot find a good route of transportation to get there? Any help would be appreciated! I will have a Swiss Rail Pass.
It's next to Meiringen, so that's the main town you want. From there it appears there is a rail link to Innertkirchen which is right next to the Aare Gorge. The Swiss Pass should cover all the transportation, although I don't know about entry into the gorge facility itself.
To add to what Eddie says, the Gorge (Aareschlucht) runs between Meiringen and Innertkirchen, but the start is a 20-30 minute(?) walk from Meiringen station. There is a train between Meiringen and Innertkirchen, but it runs in a tunnel, you see nothing. You can use it to avoid having to walk back after you have walked through the gorge.
From Lauterbrunnen, just look up train times to Meiringen on the SBB website.
Thank you for the help!!
