How to get a VAT refund from Switzerland purchase

I am traveling from Lucerne to Stuttgart by train tomorrow. I have a train ticket already. How do I get the VAT refund if we don’t stop at the border?

You will have to get out in Schaffhausen, find the Swiss customs there (and hope they are open) and then get on the next train.
But given that Swiss VAT is only 8% is it really worth? The VAT processor will take his cut too.

Yeah, VAT is not the thing it used to be. You really have to decide how much hassle you're interested in.

Just like duty free is rarely worth the trouble anymore, there's nothing easier than shopping these days.

Did you already receive a form from the store?
Remember you must spend at least 300 CHF for one purchase.
There are a few different VAT services that operate.

The critical thing is getting the form stamped by Swiss customs. Potentially you can also do this at a Swiss embassy or consulate in your own country.

I mailed my form, and received the refund in about a month or so.
