Hotels in Zurich near train or airport

We will be arriving at 9:45 a.m. in Zurich. Are there any recommendations for a medium priced hotel near a train line for when we arrive and also for one close to the airport for when we leave at 11:45 a.m. 6 days later?

Is Zurich your first stop? If not why not just take the train onto the location you really want?

Don’t recommend Hotel Alexander due to noise issues.

The train service in Switzerland is excellent and unless you plan on exploring Zurich I would not necessary bother with a hotel in Zurich or near the airport. If. you do want to be close then I can suggest Hotel St. Josef in Zurich. Just a short walk from Zurich HB station. The hotel is just in front of the university. Its clean, good size rooms, and very comfortable. Download the SB app for train information regarding times and platforms. Zürich Flughafen (Airport) is just a short 10 minute ride form Zurich HB. I would be inclined to stay in Zurich only at the end of your trip. If you are arriving at 9:45 am just purchase your train ticket/pass at Zurich Airport and then got on a train to your first destination on your itinerary. You don't have many days in Switzerland, so get moving on your first morning. You can certainly tolerate a train ride even with some jet lag.

I agree with the previous post hotel Alexander is just noisy and not really in the nicest location of town.

You arrive early into Zurich so just hop on the train and continue onto your first destination...no need to waste time in Zurich. The train station is conveniently located in the airport so it’s easy to get in directly after you land.

if you are arriving that early in the morning, you might not be able to check into a hotel anyway. Agree with Tim you should just keep moving on to your real first destination. On the return, where will you be coming from? You can get a direct or one stop train from Luzern to the Zurich airport thats only about 1 hour 20 minutes.

The point being that Zurich is not worth a detour if there are better places you can be.

rs,

I agree with the others about your arrival day. Head directly from the airport to the first place you'll be staying. If the hotel offers early check-in, you may be able to access your room right away and get organized.

For your departure, there's no problem staying right in Zürich as it's only a few minutes from the Hbf to the airport. You could have a look at Hotel Walhalla which is in a fantastic location right next to the station.
