My family will be visiting Mürren with my 84-yr-old mom with mobility issues. Though she can climb a flight or two of stairs with a cane, I would much rather book a hotel with an elevator for her. Both Hotel Eiger and Edelweiss mention having an elevator. Can anyone tell me whether Hotel Alpenruh, Blumental, or Alpina also have one? Thanks much!
I wouldn’t recommend Alpenruh right now. It’s right next to the Schilthornbahn construction so your views have construction equipment in them.
Blumental & Alpina do not have an elevator according to reviews, but you could confirm directly with them.
You can always ask a hotel you’re interested in if they have handicap accessible rooms on lower floors, as well as service to carry baggage up a flight of stairs if necessary.
If I had a mother with a walker I’d definitely be choosing the Eiger because it’s going to be the simplest option for you in terms of getting to your hotel, but also the simplest route up to Murren from Lauterbrunnen. Staying on the other side of the village requires taking a bus through the Valley. My next recommendation would be Edelweiss. It would take someone without a walker around 5 minutes to walk there.
If it’s within your budget, spend the extra money for rooms with balcony views. You’ll love enjoying the views from your room.
Easy way to do it. Go to Booking.com and check the hotels in Murren. One of the screening options under 'room amenities - complete list' is upper floors accessible by elevator".
Thank you @irv for the suggestion! Thank you @wanderweg for the great info. Just booked 2 rooms (with view) for our family at Edelweiss.
