Hotels in Luzern

We will be in Luzern for 2 nights the first week of September. I am looking for a hotel within walking distance to the train station, about 10 minutes. Is air conditioning necessary the first week of September in Luzern? Also we would like some really comfortable beds.

We have stayed at Hotel Des Alpes, in late Aug/ Sept., twice, and I don't remember needing air conditioning, but that's IMHO. The website will indicate if the hotel has AC. We love the rooms facing the Chapel Bridge, and it's extra special if you get a balcony room. We would certainly return. And- it's a five minute walk from the train station.
Saturday morning is market day, which is delightful, if that fits into your schedule! Safe travels!

We stayed at the Hotel des Alpes last September. We did not have a balcony, but our window opened out to an amazing view with the Chapel Bridge & river right in front of us, the lake & Mt Rigi off in the distance to the left, Mt. Pilatus to the right. We just left our windows open and were very comfortable day & night. The room wasn't big, but it was comfortable, as was the bed. There is a little noise from the people out below you in the evening/night if your windows are open, but it there are no cars and it didn't really bother us. We enjoyed our stay, definitely get a room with a river/bridge view!

On our early September trip, A/C was needed as the temps were in the mid-80s. We stayed at Hotel Beau Sejour which does have A/C and very comfortable beds. It is a bit farther than your 10 minute walk limit, but the hotel will send you a digital Luzern card a few days ahead of your stay. It covers the bus which stops in front of the hotel. Our stay there was terrific.
