Does anyone have good hotel recommendations for Lauterbrunnen and for Lucerne? The trip is this August! Thank you!
We love Hotel Des Alpes in Lucerne, and always ask for a riverfront room with a view of the Chapel Bridge. If you're lucky, you get a small balcony. Book direct for the best price, but don't hesitate, as you're a bit late to be booking for August.
You can search lodgings on booking.com, then book directly with the property.
Enjoy this beautiful city. Safe travels.
I have stayed in Ameron Flora (on the train side of the river), Hotel Weisses Kreuz and Ambassador. All good.
If your trip is this August, pickings will be slim. Go to www.booking.com and filter to see what might be available. You can then contact individual hotels listed if you would like to book directly. Also try the Lauterbrunnen Tourism site https://lauterbrunnen.swiss/en/discover/accommodation.html?filter_categories_1669%5B%5D=lauterbrunnen_Hotel.
The Hotel Staubbach in Lauterbrunnen is a lovely hotel with a wonderful breakfast + beautiful views.
Looks to be slim pickings indeed in Lauterbrunnen in early August. Note that August 1 is a national holiday in Switzerland, and places fill up. Especially in the mountains. But if you are coming at that time, I see the well-regarded Hotel Oberland is available August 1-4, but you may not like the price (987 CHF= almost $400/night) Beginning August 4, all that shows up on booking dot com is either around $400+ a night, or has a very low rating of 6.3, which I rarely see on booking.com.
We also stayed at Hotel des Alpes in Lucerne in a river front room with a balcony. Sensational views and the restaurant and location were perfect too.
I chose Hotel Beau Sejour in Lucerne because the rooms are air-conditioned, and it was a terrific stay, The temperatures were in the high 80's, so we were happy to have A/C. Breakfast with a lake view was great, staff was professional, warm and welcoming.
I see several open in Luzern, putting in dummy dates of August 4-8.
Luzern averages $300/night at that time.
