Can anyone suggest a good hotel in Luzern (not Hotel des Alpes) ? thanks!
Love Hotel Balances…great location and restaurant
Friends stayed next door at the Pickwick and enjoyed it.
Do you want nicer than des Alpes? I stayed at the Marriott in 2021 and it was super nice. It’s close to the train station and old town (just across the river).

I also like des Alpes, but no ac.
If you want to be closer to the train station, without crossing a bridge to the old town, look at Ameron Hotel Flora.
Thank you everyone for your great suggestions. FYI, all these hotels want more than 1 night and we just needed 1 night. My fault for doing this so late (we are travelling end of JUne) based on this it seems travel has certainly picked up again! anyway I had to book at the Mariott ..but was able to use my mariott reward points.. just have to walk across the bridge.
thanks again RS peeps!!
About a half block from the marriott is a nice little park-- vogeligarti. We sat on a bench in the evenings and people watched and ate gelato, which we got from the Bachmann’s bakery located across the street from the hotel. There is also a Bachmann’s at the train station. If you stop in, be sure to try one of the chocolate chip buns.

I was also going to tell you about the dean & david’s near the hotel, but it looks like it might have closed. ☹
Thank you Carrie! this is such wonderful information. Always a pleasure to interact on this forum.. everyone is so helpful and nice.
I really appreciate it. Will think of you as I eat this chocolate bun!
We’re doing this in May. Thanks for the ice cream info Carrie
We stayed at Hotel Château Gutsch which has it’s own funicular down to the town and lake.
We had drinks at the Hotel Gutsch and it was beautiful as the evening lights came on. Safe travels!
chocolate chip buns??? Hold me back !!!
