Hotel recommendations for Lausanne?

Need recommendations for hotel in Lausanne. I have the RS Switzerland and read numerous reviews on TA. Looking to keep price under $265.00. Has anyone stayed at Hotel Elite, or Hotel des Voyageurs? Any other favorites you can recommend?

I do not know hotels in Lausanne except for the palace, but you could consider staying in Vevey or Montreux instead of Lausanne. There is an easy and direct train from Vevey to Lausanne which takes only 15 minutes. Montreux is another 10 minutes from Vevey.

We stayed at Hotel Aulac a few years ago and it was fine. Rooms are adequate and they have a great view. Well under your price point.

jm,

I stayed at Hotel Elite in Lausanne on my last visit, and would certainly recommend it. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were great, it's an easy walk (albeit uphill) from the rail station (there's a stairway that makes it very easy), and also has easy access to the Metro (Funicular). There are ATM's available in the station, restaurants in the vicinity and it's easy to get down the hill to Ouchy via the Metro to connect with the boats.

I stayed at Rick's recommended Hotel Regina, which was fine. It's a bit old, so not suitable if you like new and spiffy. In September, 2014, I paid CHF 124.20 plus CHF 2.50 tax per night for a single.

I got this rate by e-mailing the hotel directly, and I highly recommend this for any hotel in Switzerland. I found that the hotel's own websites did not show all available rooms, but by e-mailing them directly and mentioning that I learned about their hotel in Rick Steves, I got both better room inventory and better rates.
