Hotel recommendation in Geneva for family of 4

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a hotel that has double beds in Geneva. We will be staying the first week in September. Reservations have been made at the Novotel Hotel. Unfortunately, about 85% of the reviews I've found on the hotel are bad including being near an area "not so family friendly." I'm not sure what that means but if we can find another hotel that will ease my mind. We're traveling with our young daughters, ages 11 & 9 and we hope to find another hotel that offers double beds.

It would be helpful if u posted a budget and your level of luxury.
Geneva can be very expensive.

clean a/c room, double beds, free wi-fi would be nice, close to attractions. If I did the research right, hotels can range anywhere between $250-$700 night. Would like to stay in the $$250 to $450 range but am willing to pay higher for a little more.

Is this the Novotel Geneva Centre? Location right by the train station may not be good. We have not stayed in Geneva---we stayed in the small town of Morges about 30 minutes away before flying out--- but my experience with another large Swiss city (Zürich) leads me to believe those comments about the area. I would not want to stay there with children. It is not that it is unsafe, but could be uncomfortable.

How long will you be in Geneva? Rooms with two double beds are not common as they are in the US, and suites are expensive. Indeed any room in Geneva is probably expensive. Maybe stay outside the city?

Yes Lola that is the hotel. What concerns me is that the reviews posted indicated hotel area as "area is much like the red light district"

And it is indeed a red light area. We have stayed in this area once for 4-5 days and several of our university students and my husband were propositioned at various times of the day. I'll look at a map and get back to you about some other areas in Geneva that should be fine. This area directly between the train station, to the east and half way down the hill towards the lake is the only place where we observed this. Other areas in Geneva, closer to the lakefront and around in the oldest part, were wonderful.

Any opinions on the Warwick Hotel Geneva? We may have found rooms there - adjoining rooms not guaranteed but it may do.

I've also stayed at this hotel. While it is on a busy street, the immediate area is typical for any city with busy commuters and tourists. There are good streets for reaching the lake and city center from this hotel, a better location than your first hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Rotary. They gave us two connected rooms, ac was great and the area was good.

Did you try a search engine like booking.com to see what is availble? You can always book directly with the property once you find what you like.

I put in random dates in early September ( since I do not know your actual dates) and found 93 hotels with rooms for two adults plus two children. Many were in the same price range as the Novotel. But I do know know the city neighborhoods so could not pick one to suggest.

You made an excellent choice, the Warwick would be my choice, have stayed there, very convenient.
