Hotel Jungfrau Murren

I am looking for some background on the Hotel Jungfrau. I searched the Forum and found the comments to be favorable but they are very old.

Has anyone stayed there recently? It appears in Rick Guidebook from 2020, tenth addition, (I'm one version behind the 2023 publication).

I've booked an apartment there months ago for 5 of us during our July visit (3 bed rooms 2 bath) and thought I was all set. BUT, just by chance I looked at Booking.com and found the overall rating only to be 6.3! NOT GOOD in my view.

Any first hand comments would be appreciated.

Are you in the Jungfrau Lodge or the actual hotel? I'm not sure if I know of any apartments in the actual hotel that are that large, but I could be wrong. Rick Steves uses that hotel for his tours all the time. I know because our chalet looks out over it and I see the tour groups every morning while I'm drinking my coffee :) It's a dated hotel, but in a nice location. I can't speak to the service or anything beyond that though. Your options are going to be extremely limited for July though at this point, so you may not have an option. I don't know what your budget is, but 3 bed/2 bath, especially this close to your travel time is probably non existent.

Also, I see Hotel Jungfrau getting an 8.3 on booking.com ......

I see what my mistake was when reviewing Booking.com.

I picked up, Hotel Restaurant Jungfrau at 6.3 (fine print indicates Lauterbrunnen) versus Hotel Jungfrau Mürren 8.3

Feeling better already. I couldn't believe I missed the poor rating when previously doing my research

As it turned out, I changed hotels about 45 days before arrival so I never experienced Hotel Jungfrau. I was able to get a room at the Hotel Eiger which was excellent. That said, I'm sure Hotel Jungfrau will be very good too.. I have used hotels mentioned in Rick's guidebooks all the time and they are ALWAYS very clean and in GREAT locations. I'm sure the Hotel Jungfrau is no different..

Also, Wanderweg notes above that Rick Steves uses the Hotel Jungfrau regularly when his tours are in Murren..
