Anyone with first hand experience with a nice Hotel in Lucerne? We are from the USA and would like to stay in a central location. So far it seems Hotel Des Balances would work nicely, anyone stay there? We then head to Basel to pick up a river cruise.
Thanks!
we stayed at Drei Konig Hotel (3 Kings) and found it to be convenient, clean and walkable , We did take cab to and from rail station, more fir convenience than need.
Our family with teens stayed at the Hotel Alpha and can't say how comfortable we all were, how reasonably priced it is, and what a great location it is in. This hotel is in an old historic building that has been updated and is very clean and neat. There is no AC but the front desk provided us with fans and we were very comfortable. We walked straight from the train station, 10 minutes, or you can take a bus to the hotel. It is in a quiet area but is very accessible by foot to all of the sites in Lucerne. We choose 2 rooms with a private bath attached and had wonderful views of the mountains out of our windows. The breakfast buffet was delicious with multicolored hard boiled eggs offered each morning as a special touch. I am glad we choose the Hotel Alpha, you won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here.
Hotel Alpha!
kevin,
You might have a look at Hotel Stern. I was back there in September and would certainly recommend the hotel. It's an easy walk to the river or the station (about 10 minutes). As with anywhere in Switzerland, take lots of money as it's expensive!
