Hotel Geissbach and Waterfall

Had to go ahead and post my day trip for today while it is still fresh on my mind……wow! So thrilled when I go out on a limb to plan something and it turns out this well…….Left Lauterbrunnen this morning at 9……was at Interlaken Ost by 9:30 where we caught the 10:07 boat and left for Geissbach Hotel and falls….such a beautiful day for a boat ride and this lake-Brienz-is GORGEOUS. We got off the boat and on to the funicular that takes you straight up the hill to the hotel. We had lunch reservations and they seated us on the glass terrace overlooking the thousand foot waterfall…….AMAZING. It was our view for all of lunch as the sun came out and we enjoyed trout and potatoes. After our tasty chocolate sundaes we walked the hotel grounds-which are a treat- and headed up to the walkway over the falls for pictures. Decided after pigging out at lunch that we would take the 90 minute lakeside walk back to Iselwaldt…….BEAUTIFUL shady walk along the lake but every bit the 90 minutes they tell you it will take! You can also ride the boat back…….we wanted some exercise…..and then took the bus at Iselwaldt back to the Interlaken Ost train station. What a day! Made a memory we will never forget……if you are going to a Interlaken this is well worth a day!!!

We stayed in Grindelwald and spent a day down at the lakes when it was raining in the mountains. I agree that both lakes are beautiful, took a boat ride on Brienz and visited Thun.
