Hello, I am a solo traveler this summer with a return from Zürich airport in late June. Can anyone recommend a clean, quiet, reasonably priced place to stay? peaceful, would be great, with a direct route to the airport that does not require a taxi. Thank you!!!!
There are many places that would fit the direct route requirement, from 5 mins to 1+ hours away....
When do you have to be at the airport and how far away would you consider to get your preferred price range or "peaceful" location? And speaking of price, what do you consider (or hope for) reasonable? This would help narrow down options!
The plane leaves at 1:30pm so I need to be there probably by 11:30 AM. No more than 20 minutes away would be good, as I’d rather not stress on my last day!
The train from Zurich Hauptbahnhof to the airport station inside the terminal takes 9-13 minutes, depending on the type. They run very frequently. You could just pick a hotel within easy walking distance of the main station and have a nice evening in Zurich.
That sounds great! Could anyone recommend lodging near the train station that’s reasonably priced?
If you're looking for more of a BnB type place, you can check here https://bnb.ch/en/ and search for Zurich. There are a few that look reasonably priced and should be near a tram or something to get you to the main station if not walkable. Hotels - again, budget would be helpful....one person's reasonable is another person's splurge! :)
Great website, thank you! I liked L&L and have sent a message for the date.
I reached out to 3 B&Bs on the Switzerland BnB place. One said no as their family was staying during June; #2 said they couldn’t book me that far in advance (huh?!); #3 never responded despite 2 attempts.
I love the comment that there are MANY sweet places—but where do I find them?
Can anyone suggest a website or sweet place they’ve stayed at and liked that is: no more than $120, quiet-ish, and less than a half hour to 45m from the airport?
it doesn't sound like you have Rick's guide??
At the airport itself are several hotels of varying prices, with shuttles or walking.
I have his Italy, France, and Amsterdam guides where I will be spending the majority of my time. I actually just bought the Switzerland guide today.
The budget is tight, but you could also check places like Aarau (35-40 min direct airport train) or Thalwil (25min) for B&Bs on the same website mentioned already.
In Zurich itself, you could try St Georges hotel. It's in a reasonably quiet area of the city and usually has budget-friendly rooms (some with shared bathroom, some with private bathroom).
clean, quiet, reasonably priced
I used this place, right at the airport, for under $100.

We just got back from a two-night stay at Hotel City Design and Lifestyle. It was a quick and easy walk to/from the train station, and like someone above said, travel to the airport by train is also quick and easy. There are plenty of shops and restaurants near the hotel, and it's a lovely, ten-minute walk to the Old Town and riverfront area.
The hotel was clean and modern, though still charming, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our double rooms weren't very large, but not cramped either. They were very comfortable, though. I'd absolutely stay there again.
