We just made a reservation at the Hotel Alpina for 4 nights. Rick did NOT list the hotel under his sleeping recommendations for Murren in his Swiss guide book. Am I missing something? Should I be concerned? We also looked at the Hotel Jungfrau and Alpenruh Hotel.

Have not stayed at the Alpina. However can't recommended the Hotel Eidelweiss Superior more strongly. Three great stays so far.

Rick can't review every hotel, and for the ones he includes, he usually has a personal relationship with the family.
Look at the booking.com reviews, as one must stay at the property in order to write a review. Not all travel sites require this.
For the best prices, once you have done your research, book directly. Have a great trip. We love Murren!

He doesn’t review every hotel and in Mürren they often have the group tours stay at Hotel Jungfrau which I would never recommend staying at for many reasons.
In Mürren the best options are Hotel Alpenblick, Mürren Palace, Hotel Eiger, Eiger Guesthouse, Edelweiss & Alpina.
If you stay at Alpina I highly recommend getting a room with a superior view. It’s in a good, convenient location and you can read many reviews on Google, TripAdvisor, etc

We stayed there some years ago and enjoyed it. Do get an upgraded room and be sure you are facing the mountains (west). I recall the owner being a little, shall we say, ‘precise.’ But nothing spoiled our stay, breakfast was good, and dinner in their restaurant during a thunderstorm one night was surprisingly good. Proximity to the train station is good.

Totally agree with Laurel. My "go-to" hotel (family run) when staying in Muerren. A couple of points - hotel has no elevator but the last couple of times got offers of help with luggage to room; the rooms facing the mountains offer unobstructed views across the Lauterbrunnen valley but look straight down into the valley from the edge of the ridge from the balconies where the hotel is perched (interesting to see helicopters flying below the rooms into the valley). Ask for one of those rooms. Was given an adopter plug if you forgot yours or don't have one for recharging. Agree the restaurant is excellent.
