Holiday Pass??

On www.schilthorn.ch a 4 day Holiday Pass is offered. We are staying 3 nights in Gimmewald, and intend to see the Schilthorn and take many of the hikes listed in Rick's Switzerland tour book. It looks as though everything we want to do we can use this Pass for, except taking the little train to Wengen. Our first trip here. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

That pass is actually quite limited. Not only does it cover nothing on the other side of the valley, and there is a great deal of good stuff to do across the valley, but it also doesn't cover the quick way up from Lauterbrunnen station to Mürren - cable car Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp, little train Grütschalp to Mürren BLM. That is a much quicker and simpler way up than bus from the station to Stechelberg, then cable car to Gimmelwald, then change to cable car to Mürren.

But if it meets your needs, and that's all you want to do because you have decided to stay in the little hamlet of Gimmelwald where there is very little to do, maybe you will just chill, then that's fine.

How active do you expect to be?

Have you compared it with the Berner Oberland Pass?

Which also brings up the question how are you getting there? From where? How are you leaving? To where?

We will have a car so we will park at the lot in Stelchberg. We will stop in Lauterbrunnen to see Staubbach Falls first. On the first day we will do Rick's walks in Gimmewald and Murren as well. On the second day we are going to Piz Gloria for breakfast on the Schilthorn and walk along the ridge. We will do the North Face Trail and hike down past Sprutz Waterfall. We will also do the Selfinen Valley to Kilchbalm hike to see the glacier fields. On the third day we will do the Mannlichen-Kleine Scheidegg hike. The only bit not covered by the Holiday Pass on that hike is the little train to Wengen. We will do the Lauterbrunnen Valley Walk, and see Trummelbach Falls. I do want time to sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. As well as the fact that we live at 12 feet above sea level, so we will not be used to the altitude.
On your advice, I checked the 4-day Berner Oberland Pass. It would cost us 270 EUR each since we have nothing to lower it to half price. The Holiday Pass is 150 EUR each.
If there is something else that you think I should consider, please let me know. Thank you for your help, I really appreciate the feedback.

I think you may need two more transports. When you reach Wengen you will need to walk over to the Männlichen cable car to be whisked up there. Great views. And when you get to Kleine Scheidegg you need to get back down to the valley, which is a train to and through Wengen. I don't believe that any of that is covered on your Pass.

You just need to be prepared for that.

Nigel,
Thanks for your input. I had overlooked the details on that. I found that we can travel for 21.99 each from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen. From Wengen to Mannlichen the lift is 26 each. Then we hike to Kleine Scheidegg. I'm still trying to figure out the path back to Lauterbrunnen.
