Hiking in/around Lauterbrunnen

Hello all,

Does the Coop supermarket in Lauterbrunnen carry sunblock and insect/mosquito repellant? Looking online, it looks like Coop supermarkets do in general. I imagine it would since the area is popular with hikers. We'll be based in Lauterbrunnen for a few days and plan to visit a few villages and do some hikes in the area. I just wanted to be sure for this specific Coop store, for those of you who've been there. I'm wondering if we need to pack some from home or if we can just purchase those items there? We're flying from abroad and planning to travel light with just a carry-on luggage per person, so wanted to be mindful of the 3-1-1 liquids requirement.

If the coop doesn't sell (sorry - can't remember) there are many sports equipment/clothing stores that would sell them I believe.

Yes, they have sunscreen, but I don't remember about insect repellant. I've never needed insect repellent hiking in the Jungfrau region, there really aren't many bugs. In the event you want a larger selection of things, the Coop across from the Interlaken train station is more like a department store + grocery store so they'll have even more than Lauterbrunnen if you want to stop there on your way into Lauterbrunnen.

Bring a travel size of whatever from home and just carry it own. Buy as needed before you run out when you get there. Scope out the store before you run out of the travel sizes you brought from home You need to go through bigger Interlaken which has more stores to get to Lauterbrunnen and is a short train ride away.

Love your planning! And I agree - need to do that with 3-1-1 and carry on. I'd buy there myself based on what is already in my 3-1-1-!
