Hikes Near Lucerne- This Weekend

Hi!

I'll be arriving in Lucerne early Friday morning and planning to spend the first day getting settled and walking around the Old Town. Im looking for some help sorting out my Saturday and Sunday plans!

Right now, Im planning to do the Golden Round Trip one of the days, spending some time at the top of Mt Pilatus. I have not purchased my tickets yet as I wanted to play it by ear in terms of weather...but keep seeing that the cogwheel needs to be scheduled in advance. Im just confused as to how i could know exactly what time I'd be on the cogwheel-- since I'd want to walk around a bit and not be held to a strict schedule. Does anyone have a little more info on how that works?

Lastly. I had hoped to do the Stoos Ridge hike on whichever day i don;t do the Golden Round Trip, but know it's not fully open yet. It looks like I could still go and take the Fronalpstock Sesselbahn up and then hike down Klingenstock....does this seem accurate? And if so-- any thoughts on this / how intense it is? I don't mind a long hike-- just don't want to do one that is too challenging. Trying to decide if its worth it or a mistake!

Alternatively-- would love any ALT hike recommendations (easy to moderate) that are easy/quick to get to from Lucerne and offer the best views.

Appreciate any help!

I found this schedule for the cogwheel: https://www.pilatus.ch/en/inform/timetable
Swiss trains are so on schedule, you should be able to easily line it up with your arrival time (we did not take the boat so not sure about that). We just showed up and waited in line, but it was late October and there may be seasonal differences. Maybe it is more important for going up, for heading down, we sort of kept an eye on the line.
It was easy to find some nice walks up there--have a great time!
