Help with Switzerland Itinerary please

Hi
Just to give a brief outline of where my husband and I are travelling via car for 6 weeks: Paris, Germany, Prague, Cesky Krumlov, Vienna, Salzburg, Mittenwald/Innsbruck, Switzerland and back to France.

We know that it is not long but we have 5 or 6 days through Switzerland. Our thoughts are:

Lucerne 3 nights - visit Mt Pilatus and the rest to wander around Lucerne

Montreux 2 nights - lake cruise etc

Should we consider Interlaken, Chillon, Zermatt instead with the short time we have?

Thanks in advance

With 6 days I would only do two places. Are you going to Switzerland for the Alps? I would cut Lucerne and spend at least three days in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, preferably Murren. Spend the other three days in Lausanne and you've got a very nice Switzerland trip.

We are now considering your great suggestion regarding Murren.

Murren is car free village. As we are driving, do we park our car in the Lauterbrunn valley?

Yes. You can either park in the Lauterbrunnen garage and take the Seilbahn lift to Gruetshalp, then the train to Muerren, or the Stechelberg car park and the cable car to Muerren. Parking is pay, don't know the rates.

There is a parking ramp at the Lauterbrunnen train station where you can park for something like $10 a day.
Given that, you might also consider staying in Lauterbrunnen, though Murren is also great--but you just can't park there. That way you would have access to your car for, say, going to Grindelwald. Nevertheless, cable cars, trains, and buses in the area will get you anywhere you want to go.

There's 2 weeks worth of stuff to do in the Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald area. Send me a private mail (click on my name) if you want to see pics and maps of our dozen fav hikes in the area.
