Help w Switzerland itinerary

I'm traveling to Switzerland next week with my wife and two teenagers. Current itinerary is day 1 Zurich, day 2 Luzern, days 3-5 Lauterbrunnen Valley, day 6 ??, day 7 morning flight home from Zurich.

I'm struggling a bit with how to program day 6. We will be waking up in Muerren. Options I'm considering are (a) Bern; (b) Bern + Murten (sleep in Murten); (c) Bern + Lausanne (sleep in Lausanne); (d) something else?? From what I've read it seems like we could hit the Bern highlights in half a day, if so it seems like might be worth trying to see something else. But I'm worried that Murten will be a bit boring and that Lausanne is too far away given the other traveling we'd be doing that day (Muerren to Bern in the morning) (All else equal I'd also prefer to reduce travel time to Zurich airport the following morning, but I don't feel super strongly about that).

I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!!

FWIW, I Love Bern.
You can walk the length of town admiring the fanciful old fountains, shop in the arcaded two level stores, visit the Altes Tramdepot for regional beer and lunch, climb up to the Rosengarten for great views over the bendy Aar river, take a bus to the Paul Klee art center, visit Einstein's apartment, enjoy Roesti, walk the oldest parts of Bern down along the river,
have a nice relaxing dinner before next day's departure.

Where are you sleeping on day six? Bern is a convenient stop between the Lauterbrunnen Valley and Zurich.

I'm flexible as to where we are sleeping on day 6. (Currently have a room reserved in Murten but can cancel it.)

You’re flying home on day seven? If so, what time? Staying in Murten is not a good idea because the train requires transfers between Murten and Zürich’s Flughafen airport. However, there are direct trains from Bern to the airport departing every half hour taking 1h 15m.
It’s best if you go to Luzern on arrival day and spend your last night in Zurich. Can you change it?

We're departing Zurich around noon. I'm leaning increasingly to just spending all of day 6 in Bern.

That will work and spending the night is better than a few hours, especially since your flight departs at noon the next day.

Bern is great. If you are curious about Murten, you can easily do a round-trip from Bern over a few hours. Murten old town is super-cute but super-tiny.
