Help- Solo, Budget and 2 days in Switzerland

Hi guys..

I'm gonna do a short solo trip to Switzerland for 3 days (21-23 Oct 2016).
Anyone have an idea or tips for off the beaten path or must see places in this short time? Want to do as much as possible.
Suggestions for reasonable prices for one day trips..

Also, any recommendation of a hostel / backpacker place would be wonderful.
Like to hear from you. Thank you in advance.

Where will you be arriving - airport, train station, or are you driving? Where are you arriving from.

Although Switzerland looks small on a map, it is quite large to move around in, and large enough to support areas in which 4 different languages.

One day trips from where?

Hi sorry, didn't finish my post properly.
- Arriving 21 Oct @ Basel Airport 10 am from Amsterdam.
- Departure 23 Oct @ Basel Airport 20:00 back to Amsterdam.
Then I'm heading to Lucerne for the day/ night.
So actually I've just got the proper one and a half day for trip/tours.
- With Switzerland quite big, that is the 'problem' I want to fit as many things as possible in. ;)

I'm sure this is anathema to nearly everyone else, but with that little time I'd be sorely tempted to figure out a very picturesque loop by train/postbus and just observe the lovely countryside out the window. Otherwise, you're not going to see much besides Lucerne, which is a picturesque city, but...

A weekend in Luzern is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Assume you will just have an overnight bag you can carry on. That way you can step off the plane and get the bus to Basel station and a train to Luzern.

This place is pretty reasonable. http://www.thejailhotellucerne.com/index.htm

If you want to tear all around the area, the pricey Tell Pass might work for you. 170 CHF for 2 days, 200 CHF for 3. http://www.luzern.com/en/tell-pass

Head back to Basel about 16:00 for your flight to Amsterdam.
